The Hands Behind the Detail: Moshumi
TANVI GOELShare
Three years with Harvest Season. A lifetime of knowing how to make things by hand.
Moshumi has been practising haath ka kaam - handwork - from a young age. Three years ago, she found her way to Harvest Season through word of mouth and became part of the small community of women working in the studio.
She lives nearby with her family and comes into the studio to work alongside the other women. Much of what she does is painstakingly done by hand, with the kind of attention to detail that can't be hurried or replicated by a machine.
For Moshumi, though, the best part of working at Harvest Season isn't only the craft.
It's the people.
She speaks especially warmly about working with Shristie, the founder. A good working relationship, she says, makes the experience better - and makes you want to stay.
For someone who has spent much of her life working with her hands, the studio has become more than a place to work. It is a place where craft, community and companionship come together.
We tell Moshumi's story through her hands, by her choice.
